WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Seventeen-year-old Winnipeg DJ and producer LxAM, born Liam Harvey, will release his new single, “Get Out My Way,” on December 11 through Liftoff Recordings, the independent dance label founded by American duo Disco Fries.
The vocal house track follows early momentum for the Canadian artist, whose previous single “I Just Wanna Dance” received placement on Spotify’s Bangers editorial playlist. At 128 BPM, “Get Out My Way” combines emotional vocals, a driving bassline and a forward-looking message about leaving behind relationships that hold you back.
“‘Get Out My Way’ is about that moment when you stop letting someone hold you back,” LxAM said. “I wanted the song to have emotion, but also feel confident and make people move.”
Liftoff Recordings, founded in 2013, has become a platform for emerging electronic artists as well as Disco Fries’ own releases. Disco Fries—Nick Ditri and Danny Boselovic—have collaborated with Tiësto and remixed artists including Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez and Flo Rida.
“What stood out about LxAM was his instinct for pairing a strong vocal hook with a groove that works on the dancefloor,” said Danny of Disco Fries.
